Burgoo (Main Mall, SM Mall of Asia)
The restaurant that we chose to celebrate a friend's triumphant or should I say lucky adventure on money. This friend of mine was contacted by a former colleague of his and told him that he still has an unclaimed back pay from a previous employer. Now, this is something. Imagine, all those time you're not aware that money's gonna knock on your door one day and you're in need? This rarely happens today, huh. Money, nowadays, is the hardest thing to earn. So when you get it free, you're lucky. But of course, for my friend's experience, this is not free. It's a back pay so it's earned but was just unclaimed.
Now as we find our way towards the table that we're being ushered to, I'm excited to see the menu. I have heard so much about this all-American resto. My friend V is in love with the burgers here. She told me it's a must try. But I'm not big on burgers so I decided to skip that suggestion. Instead, we ordered these:

Supreme Sampler - this is a combination of appetizers: Buffalo Chicken Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, Onion Rings, and the Sta. Fe Spring Rolls. My favorite is the Sta. Fe Spring Rolls. I love this because I believe this is a Mexican appetizer and I love Mexican dishes. It has bean sprouts, carrots, cilantro, and cheese. All of these goodies were wrapped and deep fried. The flavors are heightened more by the ginger sesame dressing. I'm not sure but I tasted a hint of vinegar on the dressing and it's good for fried foods. The other appetizers are also served with dips like the tomato-basil sauce for the Mozzarella Sticks and the Bleu cheese dressing for the chicken wings. Yum!

Supreme Nachos - this is for the boys' beers. Hehehe. Tortilla chips with generous toppings of ground beef, black olives, onions, cheese, and jalapenos. I think the tortilla chips are quite bland without the toppings but when dipped into the melted cheese dip, it's just okay.

Supreme Pizza - why are all the dishes have the word 'Supreme' on it? I don't know. Coincidental if you asked me. Hahaha. The pizza is just okay compared to my all-time favorite: Yellow Cab. It has pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, onions, and mozzarella cheese. I still prefer thin crust pizzas because you get to taste the toppings more than the crust.
All of the dishes went well with my big glass of watermelon shake and I guess the boys agree too with their beers. Watermelon shake tends to have a neutral flavor that's why I always order it. Some fresh fruit shakes leave a bad taste when paired with spicy foods. That's why whenever I want to order spicy foods, I make sure that there's a watermelon shake in the menu.
Zong (The Fort Strip, Bonifacio Global City)
My friend announced her 'Welcome back dinner' through an invitation via e-mail. This is an annual ritual whenever she vacation in our country. She used to be a part of the Manila operations in our company but because of her extensive background in proof managing, she was given a chance to work in our US office. I was excited when she chose a Chinese resto. My last Chinese try was Superbowl and I'm not that well, remember? So when she started reciting the dishes that we're ordering, I can't wait to try them all.
There is only one photo for all 4 dishes. Actually, these are 5 dishes including the Yang Chow Fried rice but, we were all caught up with the conversation and too excited to take pictures of each other and did not realize that this dish is still missing when we took this photo.
From left to right: Spicy Singapore Style Fish Fillet (This is a winner! Tender fish fillets covered with sweet and spicy sauce.); Szchung Prawn w/ Vegetables (This is my favorite because of the crunchy vegetables and the sweet, fresh, large prawns); Sauteed Sliced Beef & Brocolli in Black Pepper Sauce (The meat is super tender. I love the sauce and the brocolli too.); Ha Kao or Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (Never did I see a Ha Kao this big! And you will not be fooled when they described this as a shrimp dumpling because when you bite into the dumpling, you can see big pieces of the shrimps inside the wrapper).
As we walk outside the resto, I stole a glimpse of the table where we were seated. I made a mental note: I will come back to this resto to try other dishes. Yes, I will!
Don Henrico's (Entertainment Mall, SM Mall of Asia)
A 'Happy Birthday' treat for our dear friend who's headed to return to the States that week. The same friend who treated as in Zong for her arrival. This is a surprise dinner and we were all excited to see her reaction. Actually, it was no longer a surprise before the day of the celebration came. You see, she has a tight schedule so that we need to squeeze this treat in her datebook. Pictures and laughters galore, here are the dishes that accompanied the warm conversation that happy Friday night:

Carbonara - diced bacon and mushrooms in a creamy white sauce that is sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. The dish comes with two slices of garlic bread. The sauce has a hint of sour cream, an ingredient that is prominent in Carbonara sauces. I love it because every flavor is balanced.

Buffalo Wings - huge, as in huge, chicken wings cooked the traditional upstate New York style. The wings are coated with a yummy, tangy BBQ sauce and the ranch dipping sauce is the best partner for this winning dish. The ranch dipping sauce is so creamy that it hangs on the chicken meat without spilling on the table before you put it in your eager mouth.

Don Henrico's Supreme Pizza - loaded with toppings (pepperoni, beef, ham, mushroom, pineapple tidbits, onion, bell pepper, black olives). The crust is bready but quite crispy on the outside. I still prefer Yellow Cab...
I still wear the smile as we left the mall that night. And when I got up the following morning and faced the mirror, I was surprised that the smile was still there...
